Movie: Patriot's Day

First movie for 2017, a great one I must say. Thanks to M1, and Tina for the free ticket, though watching it with a colleague that I don't think I will wanna watch movie with him alone again, but at least he is not those chatty type that will keep talking during the movie. Haha!

The movie, is based on the real event, the Boston Marathon 2013. The bomb that killed 3 and injured many when the yearly marathon was ongoing and with thousands of viewers on the street, including kids and babies.

I didn't follow the news when this incident happened, I just knew it was a big tragedy and a very sad one. So, when I watched the movie, I was astounded and touched in the end, and tears just couldn't help to flow out from my eyes.

I am so impressed to see when the people are so strong in helping each other in such time, and to want to stop the bombers from doing further harm again, how far they can go, and how it proves that love always wins. Love always win...

The casting was nice, the actors do resemble most of the people in real life and even the t-shirt that young boy (bomber) were wearing when he was arrested, such details just complemented the movie nicely.

I am thankful that this movie is the first movie for my 2017, it's a good one and I am looking forward to watch more movie this year, the type that will always inspired me in the good way.

Movie: Into The Woods

Watched this movie on Wednesday with Jus & Ben.

It was totally out of my expectation... okay, it was just me coz apparently, Ben enjoyed the movie very much and he even thanked me for introducing this movie to him.

This is, as far as I remember, the first movie that made me wanna walked out from the cinema, and also the first movie that I wish it is finished during the half way of the show.

I like musical, but this one just don't seem to fit me.

However, the 2nd half of the show, they mixed in some bible story shadow into it. Like the woman that committed adultery with the prince charming of Cinderella, she came under the law and end up, she died.

Overall, it's still acceptable and not as bad as Twilight pt 2 that made me sleep in the cinema.

Nice company has made my night better, thanks buddies!

Movie: The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies

Finally convinced myself to watch this before the cinema stop screening it.

The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies the third in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien. "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves.

Managed to get an aisle seat at the 5th row from the screen, it was a small hall, with just 8 rows I think, so, 5th row from the screen is not too bad. Although the movie has been screening for more than a month, the seats were like 50% full on that evening. Not bad, right? 

The movie, however, has touched my heart in many ways. The friendship of Bilbo & Thorin. The loyalty the dwarves have for Thorin. The love between Kiri, Tauriel & Legolas. And I still love the Elves, or I should say I like ELF, the short form of my name, Evelyn Lay Fun. 

Overall, this movie is a good catch, if you have watched the 1st & 2nd part of the trilogy. Else, I don't think you can understand the movie completely. Even for me, I almost forgot the story before and slowly reminded the story by the story itself. 

2 hours and 24 minutes, the longest movie that I watched in the movie house, thus far. 

As usual, I stayed until the end of the movie, for the songs, music and credits. And the featuring song The Last Goodbye by Billy Boyd has caught my ears. The lyrics of the song somehow reminded me of my dad. So does the song title.

Movies: The Judge

Watched The Judge today alone after seeing doctor for my sore throat condition.

I don't know about this movie at all, as in I have no idea that this movie actually existed. But when I checked on the movies showing that the nearby movie house, most of the movies are horror type and I really don't like horror movie that usually create unnecessary fear in one's heart. And so, I saw this movie called The Judge, doesn't sound like a horror movie to me, and after watching the trailer, I'd decided to watch this movie.

First of all, Mr IronMan - Robert Downey Jr. is the first reason that caught my eyes and interest, and secondly, it is a story about lawyer and judge, son and father, kinda interesting for me as I like story about professionalism and family.

Entered the cinema at 12.45pm, and the show has just started, I chose a very good seat, the last row of the cinema, and because it's a weekday, it is almost empty in the cinema.

The story is about Henry Palmer, a very successful lawyer, received the news of his mother passed away while he was in the court room. He has not been home for the longest time due to the bad relationship between him and his father, Judge Joseph Palmer. Deep in his heart, he believes that his father hated him. There were many bitterness in his heart, with his father and brothers for the wrongs that he did when he was younger. He doesn't know how to deal with all the wrongs that he did, and he is too ego to admit his wrongs, and so, he chose to flee to another state to live a life that he think he is comfortable with.

So, after he returned home for his mother's funeral, many things happened, and he gets to face some ugly pasts that he tried to leave behind, fixed his relationship with his father and his first girlfriend as well.

Overall, it's a very nice story with strong casting. Mr Downey is very smart, handsome and sexy in the movie. JR text-ed me and I shared with him that Robert is very sexy and yummy. Lol! Thou shall not lust, Evelyn Zoé!

I cried a few times during the movie, the father and son are in the progress of fighting the enemy together, and especially when his father fell down in his bathroom, it reminds me of my dad. I hope everything will be fine with him, very soon! Amen!

Movies: Café. Waiting. Love

Watched it last night, finally!

Thanks to Cindy whom accompanied me for this movie, we both had a super duper good laugh during the movie.

Well, I felt that it's like 90% different from the book, but they are equally good. I was like watching a movie with a new story.

It was good. The main actors are fresh and acted well, the highlight is truly the Hong Kong famous artist - Ms Vivian Chow 周慧敏, she is as beautiful as 10, 15 or 20 years ago, so divinely beautiful.

I was having high expectation on Vivian Chow's character as the 老闆娘, however, the movie version has almost changed the whole story about her. A little bit of disappointed, but the movie version has set her late-boyfriend as her guardian angel before she could let go of their past, it is a plus point for the story, very touching, I must say... (Cindy has shed her tears for towards the end of the movie)

The movie is much more crazier than the book. But, seriously, equally good, you will definitely get a good laugh in the cinema, because the audience on that night did, and it was almost full house, on a Monday evening, and most of them are guys, that surprised me. 

As a conclusion, Monday evening could not be better to spend with a good sister in-Christ, having a quick but yummy dinner, a crazy yet sentimental (in a way) movie and DESSERTS!

For The First Time

P/S: Cindy is actually born in Taiwan. So, dating a girl from Taiwan to watch her country's production, is a good combination too, I guess! ;)

Movie: If I Stay

I am on medical leave today due to aching all over my body. And am in the mood of watching movie alone.

So, before going to the doctor, I checked online to see if there any nice movie showing at GV near my place, and tada! If I Stay is showing at 12.15pm, which is a super nice timing as I planned to see doctor at 11am plus and I can go straight to the movie house after seeing doctor. Such qarah moment from my Lord, coz I have been thinking to watch this movie but was unable to find a right time or right location. 

The movie, made me cried for so many times in between. I do not have any idea what was the story about, at all. So, without any expectation, I just bought my ticket and nachos and walk into the cinema. 

It started with Beethoven, it must be one of his masterpiece, I believe. And I love classical music very much. So, a very good first impression. :) 

However, the movie took place mostly in a hospital, which reminds me of the time when my dad was in the hospital. Made me very fearful actually, seeing the ER, ICU, doctors, nurses... And the waiting room as well. 

But nonetheless, I like the story. It is not just about romance, but love between family and friends as well. 

Anyway, am awaiting for the next part and the movie ended with Mia finally woke up and saw Adam. And the end. Opps, should be "To be continued..."
